BYD emphasizes strong partner collaboration in the energy storage market during partner conference
Shenzhen/Berlin, November 19, 2024 – BYD Energy Storage by BYD Co. Ltd. expands the partner program for residential energy storage solution wholesalers and installers. As part of the program BYD held a partner conference at the BYD headquarters and a production site visit of the Nanning Industrial Park in November 2024 in which wholesalers and installers had the opportunity to voice their experiences, to have an exchange with the technical team of BYD and received an exclusive preview on upcoming news products and features.
The BYD energy storage business has been growing – not least because of the strong partner network BYD has been able to grow throughout Europe. At present, BYD Energy Storage products are distributed in over 110 countries and regions worldwide, delivering over 60 GWh of commercial operation experience and over 16 years of operational data support. For the popular residential storage solution BYD BatteryBox, market data by EUPD Research confirmed a 30% market share across Europe in the first half of 2024, while the annual efficiency test by Berlin-based HTW ranked the BatteryBox system as one of the most efficient residential storage solutions for seventh consecutive time in 2024.
“BYD has been investing continuously into R&D as well as into the production facilities to make sure, our product lines such as the BYD BatteryBox and other energy storage solutions are not only at the forefront of the innovation curve but are also produced with the highest safety standards and in a cost-efficient way”, said Yin Xiaoqiang, GM of BYD Energy Storage. “Another important factor in our product development is an active dialogue with our partners and customers. Therefore, regular meetings with partners from the installation sector, including the recent visit of a group of European partners at our headquarters and production facilities are part of our partner program. We take their feedback and insights very seriously and use it to advance our solutions to help them addressing current and future demands in the efficient use and storage of renewable energy.”
Partner conference reveals market challenges and potentials
A key goal of BYD for the partner conference was to gain insights into current market challenges the partners are facing and how the energy storage solutions can help them address those:
- Many wholesalers and installers reported that they are currently facing hesitations on the customer side to invest into PV and related technology as the market is experiencing a low.
- However, they confirmed that solutions such as the BatteryBox series has helped them to win customers as PV and energy storage become more and more inseparable.
- Especially in light of trends such as bidirectional charging and dynamic electricity pricing, the high charging power of the BYD BatteryBox systems is very advantageous.
- In addition to the efficiency, security and reliability of the system another key advantage mentioned by many partners at the conference is the easy integration of the BYD BatteryBox into existing photovoltaic systems, along with the flexibility in capacity expansion. Partners confirmed that this has enabled them to offer their customers a future-proof solution that promotes energy independence and lowers electricity costs in the long term.
The conference also offered an exclusive preview on upcoming products and new features to the energy storage portfolio. The partners also had the chance to visit the headquarters, the showroom in the conference center and SkyShuttle to gain insight into the history, development and diverse portfolio of BYD, while a networking evening program offered additional opportunities for an active dialogue among the partners and the BYD team.
BYD Nanning Industrial Park: A glance behind the scenes
In addition to the conference and a visit of BYD’s headquarters in Shenzhen, the partners had the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of one of the most advanced BYD production facilities. The industrial park in Nanning was added to BYD’s production sites in May 2023 and specializes in the research and development and manufacturing of energy storage cells and energy storage systems – from raw materials to finished products. With a total investment of 14 billion yuan and covering an area of 1.6667 km2, the park includes a 55GWh production base for energy storage cells and systems. After a series of rigorous quality control processes, it implements fully automated and digitalized production as well as high-level testing processes. Supporting factories in the industrial park cover the supply of core essential components such as aluminum shells, cabinets, cover plates, etc.
