Web 2.0 and viral marketing

PR in the age of Blogs, Wikis & Co.

Web 2.0

The new Internet trend is based on the ideas of User Generated Content, openness, freedom. Online communities, Social Networks, Wikis and Blogs represent platforms in which each and every Internet user can communicate his opinion, ask questions, evaluate and recommend services as well as publish text, pictures and videos. Receivers have long since become communicators.

Relevant information is easily and quickly available, news get distributed within a few minutes, new applications arise weekly: Web 2.0 is dynamic, fast moving and interactive.

Web 2.0 for companies

Companies start to realise the meaning of the new social web. According to a current survey, around 80 percent of global companies’ management executives believe in Web 2.0 leading to a turnover growth for them, especially in the areas marketing and sales (source: Fast Search & Transfer). One of the first challenges for companies in the digital market, therefore is to become “Web 2.0 compatible”.

The new Internet era causes new challenges to companies. Web 2.0 users expect innovative companies to communicate openly with their customers and to offer a feedback channel for criticism and suggestions. Blogs and wikis are communication platforms – within a company as well as externally.

Benjamin Bejbaum, founder of Dailymotion about our work:

"Entering a new market , in a country you've never been, with a language you don't speak , could look like attacking a brick wall with a teaspoon. Not with GlobalCom. The GlobalCom team is a lot more to us than a very effective PR agency. Ralf Hartmann wanted to understand our business to the core, to be able to act as a business development unit. On the PR side, every minute of our road shows were planned minute per minute, and the team introduced us to the exact media we had to speak to. On the Bizdev side, they opened for us the doors of many potential business partners (Burda Group , BMW ...)."
