OnStor expands line of Pantera virtualized storage solutions, broadens addressable market
New Pantera 5000 Delivers Massive Clustered NAS Scalability, Low Energy Consumption for Medium to Large Enterprise Environments and Digital Imaging Applications

CAMPBELL, Calif. – Sept. 26, 2007 – ONStor Inc., the leading provider of scalable clustered NAS solutions for the enterprise, today announced the expansion of its Pantera line of virtualized storage solutions with the launch of the Pantera 5000, a fortified version of its clustered NAS solution that supports large, fast-growing file storage environments. By delivering significantly more capacity per cabinet and advanced power management, the Pantera 5000 enables scalability to massive capacities while providing better density, delivering a greener data center solution due to its reduced footprint, energy consumption, and cooling costs. This new addition joins the existing Pantera 2000 Series and Bobcat NAS Gateway to broaden the scope of the ONStor product portfolio, which is designed to minimize the cost and administrative burden of managing data growth in real time across multiple tiers of storage.

Massive NAS Scalability, High Performance
The Pantera 5000 supports up to 112 drives per RAID controller and scales up to 672 Terabytes across 8 nodes. As higher capacity drives become available in the market, Pantera 5000 is expected to support up to 1 Petabyte of storage. With ONStor’s global namespace (GNS) technology customers can easily grow their networked storage environment while keeping storage provisioning and management simple. Furthermore, the Pantera 5000’s open storage design allows organizations to attach heterogeneous storage, enabling existing devices to be leveraged for investment protection. With over 40 enterprise storage arrays supported, customers can deploy their storage of choice. These capabilities eliminate the obsolescence and complexity common with traditional NAS solutions in high data growth environments.

"With persistent data growing faster than any other class of data, the Pantera 5000 is meeting customers’ rising demand for very high capacity storage that is cost-effective and easy to manage," said Bob Miller, CEO, ONStor. "We will aggressively be introducing 1 Terabyte drives as they become available to continually push the envelope of how much data companies can store while maintaining a simple, unified management scheme across multiple tiers of file storage."

The Pantera 5000 is particularly attractive to medium and large enterprises with growing amounts of tiered data that need to be online and available 24/7. In addition, companies focused on geo-spatial mapping, satellite and medical imaging, seismic data, and online images will find the Pantera 5000 a very scalable and economical solution for storing, managing and protecting their data. The Pantera product family, which includes Pantera 5000 and Pantera 2000 series, offers enterprise customers a range of scalable clustered NAS solutions that best fit their file storage needs.

"Before ONStor, managing storage in an organization like ours with huge files would quickly start to take on a life of its own. With the extremely scalable Pantera 5000 solution in place, our data center operations are smoother than ever. We no longer worry about running out of capacity or the downtime consequences of having to add more storage. It’s all automated and managed with point and click ease," emphasized John Welter, vice president of technology, Northwest Geomatics.

"ONStor has emerged as a thought leader in the green file storage arena." said Steve Norall, senior analyst, Taneja Group. "With the release of Pantera 5000, ONStor continues to push the envelope by delivering a denser, more scalable NAS solution with an industry leading power and cooling footprint."

Advantages of Pantera 5000 Scalable Clustered NAS

· Massive scalability, up to 672TB
· True open, clustered NAS
· N-way clustering with support up to 8 nodes across heterogeneous ONStor models
· RAID 6 available in Q4 for very high availability
· Up to 2.5GB/s of sustained performance
· Offers global namespace, remote replication, and native file management protocols (CIFS, NFS)
· Users can now deploy a scalable solution for tier 1 and tier 2 storage within same cabinet: supports Fibre Channel for tier one fast-access storage, supports SATA for tier 2 nearline applications

Pantera 5000 is available today from ONStor and its partners in the United States, Europe, and Japan at a list price of $125,000 for a 2-node cluster with 24 Terabytes of Pantera 5000 nearline storage. ONStor systems are deployed across a wide range of demanding enterprise IT applications, including large-scale Windows server consolidation, Internet content delivery, and digital imaging.
