Onstor expands Go Green initiative with membership in the Green Grid CAMPBELL, Calif.— Feb. 12, 2008 - ONStor Inc., the leading provider of scalable clustered NAS storage solutions for the enterprise, today announced that it has joined The Green Grid, an influential industry organization that promotes energy-efficient IT solutions. Extremely energy efficient, ONStor’s NAS solutions offer up to 95 percent power savings compared to both traditional direct-attached and competing networked storage environments.
"ONStor has been delivering energy-efficient storage solutions since the inception of our company. We believe that being part of the collaborative effort of The Green Grid will help accelerate the pace of both industry-wide development and market adoption of energy-conscious solutions," said Narayan Venkat, vice president of marketing at ONStor. "Since the launch of ONStor’s GO Green initiative last summer, we have been active in shaping the industry dialogue around green. Our Green Grid membership demonstrates our commitment to collaborating with the IT industry to help drive adoption of green data center solutions, turning words into action."
The Green Grid is a worldwide consortium of IT companies and professionals dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in data centers and business computing ecosystems by collaborating with end users and government organizations to ensure that energy-efficiency goals are mapped to both developers and users of a data center. The Green Grid’s mission focuses on defining meaningful, user-centric models and metrics; developing standards, measurement methods, processes, and new technologies to improve data center performance against the defined metrics; and promoting the adoption of energy-efficient standards, processes, measurements, and technologies.
"With storage infrastructures accounting for an ever-increasing proportion of data centers' energy consumption, it is imperative that storage industry vendors focus on improving power-efficiency both individually and as an industry. ONStor has had its own excellent 'green' story in terms of reduced power and space consumption, so it is good to see them joining The Green Grid community," said Mark Peters, an analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group focused on green data center issues. "The Green Grid is committed to making a 'green' emphasis the norm, rather than an afterthought. It's an approach that sits well with ONStor, whose ability to run a NAS management appliance for about the same power consumption as a light bulb demonstrates what is already possible with today's technology. As more companies join forces with the Green Grid, I hope that the increased industry focus on – and learning around – the issues of power, cooling and space efficiency, pays dividends for vendors and users alike."
As part of its GO Green initiative, last summer ONStor conducted an independent survey of 369 IT decision makers regarding the status of the "greening" of their data centers, with the following significant results:
· 63 percent of the respondents reported that their data center had run out of space, power, or cooling capacity without warning.
· Although the power consumption of an enterprise’s data center is massive, 40 percent of respondents had not discussed a green initiative within their company.
· 60 percent reported that they had a green initiative in place, would have one in place in the next two years, or had at least talked about it with management.

CAMPBELL, Calif.— Feb. 6, 2008 — ONStor Inc., the leading provider of scalable clustered NAS storage solutions for the enterprise, today announced that the company ended its third consecutive year of 100 percent revenue growth. Its 2007 fourth quarter sales were the largest in the company’s history, due in part to expanded operations in China. "I am extremely proud of the way all of the ONStor organizations worldwide have driven hard to meet their sales goals," said ONStor CEO Bob Miller. "Our strong sales are not only an encouraging sign that the demand for our product is increasing, but also demonstrate the success of our efforts to keep customer satisfaction a top priority."
